Writer supports Branstad’s decision

I support Gov. Terry Branstad's decision regarding the Central American children.
I worked for the state for 34 years and remember Gov. Robert Ray. Ray was dealing with refugees (legal immigrants with proper documentation that allowed them in to the United States). Branstad is dealing with those who entered without permission or documentation.
While I sympathize, we should not reward any people living in the United States without proper authorization. It rewards them for breaking our laws. As for the groups who say they will support them, I don't think they have any idea what they are talking about in terms of expense. Medical costs alone will be huge. Volunteer medical care can help, but how long can that be sustained? They will not be able to get state or federally funded help (cash, food or medical) for these children as they are undocumented (no birth certificates, passports or refugee cards). There are children here in Iowa, born in Iowa or other states, who need help. Children in foster care waiting for adoption, others living with relatives who need help caring for them, children who need mentors in school because of physical or mental disabilities and more. Help them.
