Ricky "Radiator Rick" Ricklefs, 54, of Vinton, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A memorial benefit will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Shellsburg Legion Hall.
Survivors include his wife, Kay; mother, Lavonne Ricklefs of Delaware, Iowa; brothers, Daniel Ricklefs of Cedar Rapids and Terry Ricklefs of Marion; and sisters, Debbie (Bill) Johnson of Ashland, Wis., and Brenda Needham of Onalaska, Wis.
Ricky was born July 17, 1961, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Richard and Lavonne (Ripperton) Ricklefs. At age 14, Ricky started working for H&H Radiator in Cedar Rapids, eventually becoming the owner and operator until the flood of 2008. He then worked for Frickson Masonry in Shellsburg and G&G Auto Parts in Vinton. On Dec. 21, 1985, he married Kay Dotson. Ricky enjoyed hunting and fishing.
