Supporters and opponents of the abortion issue turn out at the Statehouse in Des Moines Tuesday for a Senate committee hearing to discuss legislation that would cut state funding for Planned Parenthood. In an attached video you can see anti-abortion advocates gather at the Iowa Statehouse offer a prayer.
The Gazette previously reported that this bill - which passed through a Senate judiciary subcommittee last Tuesday - would discontinue the Iowa Family Planning Network, a federal Medicaid waiver that provides about $3 million in funding to family planning agencies across the state. Gazette reporters are in attendance and we will be adding to this story as updates become available.
