Citizens are fed up with having no say at council meeting. Tired of losing tax money on all of the new 'deals” to better Marion. The new library has been in the works for years but no concrete plans yet. Losing $1 million on buying the Marion Airport runway, spending more on construction because of the 'no bid,” public private partnerships. Telling long time business they will no longer have accesses to unload and load their wares. Seeing our 'fees” on our water bill increased to the point when families can no longer afford to live an affordable lifestyle.
We do have a lot of new businesses, but unless you want your nails groomed, buy a new phone or eat at fast foods restaurants there isn't much to offer. We spent millions on a consultant to design how Seventh Avenue could look and none those recommendations have been followed.
We have a chance to change the face of the council. Long time Marion residents, Mary Lou Pazour, Mike Tope and Dwight Hogan are ready to step up and make a difference. They will keep a rein on our out of control spending and borrowing. They are not newbies who don't give a darn about the history of Marion, they want to preserve the integrity of our city. Our library is the newest construction in the uptown and yet the present leaders want to tear it down and build more apartments and 'affordable” housing on Sixth Avenue.
