WATERLOO — One person has been injured in a trio of shootings and a stabbing Tuesday.
It wasn't clear if the shootings, which happened about an hour apart, were connected.
The first shooting happened shortly before 10 a.m. at 520 Elm St., which has been ground zero for several gunfire calls this year.
Officers said the victim apparently fled the house and arrived at the UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital emergency room minutes later. Other people in the house apparently weren't injured.
It wasn't immediately clear if the shooter fired inside the home or was outside. Police found a spent shell casing on the front lawn, and there were bullet holes in the home.
Then around 11 a.m., neighbors called police after hearing gunshots in the area of West Second Street and Western Avenue. No injuries were reported, but a parked sport utility vehicle had a shattered rear window.
Shootings and Stabbing
One resident said he saw what appeared to be people in two vehicles shooting at each other.
Shortly after noon, a third shooting took place in the area of Park View Boulevard and Frances Drive. There were no injuries.
And at 11:41 a.m., Waterloo officers were called to the Covenant Medical Center emergency room on a report that a 24-year-old man was stabbed in the back while walking in the area of Fletcher Avenue and West Third Street.
The man reportedly suffered minor injuries and is expected to be OK, officials said.
