John was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Cascade, Iowa, son of George and Mary (Conter) Talbert. John was a farmer his entire life. He took great pride in independently working the family farm until he moved to town three years ago. In his early years he was a boxer and enjoyed going to dances.
John was a very kind and gentle man. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed a very active lifestyle in his 90 years. He still golfed weekly with a group of close friends. He loved music and could very often be seen at music venues and local estab-lishments and always on Sunday at Stone City. He loved to dance and would dance whenever he got the opportunity. He was a Cascade Cougar supporter whether at a football game, baseball game, theater performance, or lending a hand when the new track was built.
John was a very faith-filled man. He was an honorary lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council 930, a 4th Degree member of the Dubourg Assembly No. 1573 and a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade.
