The Cedar Rapids Kernels begin the second half of Midwest League play Saturday in Beloit, Wisconsin, but that doesn't mean there isn't something to do at the ballpark this weekend.
For the first time, Veterans Memorial Stadium will host WMT Saturday Night Rock n' Roll Reunion with Jim Dalton on June 25 from 6-10 p.m. It will also be broadcast live on WMT AM 600.
Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy 50s and 60s dance music, as well as take part in dance, costume, and other various contests throughout the evening. There will also be concessions and a cash bar.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door, with all the proceeds going to Camp Courageous. The non-profit organization is a year-round respite care and recreational facility for individuals of all ages with disabilities.
This year's event marks the 30th anniversary of Rock n' Roll Reunion - the first one was held in 1981 at the Roosevelt Hotel ballroom. The annual reunion pays homage to the widely popular radio program that aired every Saturday night on WMT through the 1980s.
Those interested in purchasing tickets can do so at the Kernels Box Office, the Country Kitchen in Marion, Fairfax State Savings Banks, the Camp Courageous office in Monticello, or at www.wmtradio.com.
