Fordice, Anna Kay (Mathias)
Anna Kay (Mathias) Fordice, 79, of Solon, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at her home. Memorial services will be noon Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Brosh Chapel in Solon, located at 100 S. Cedar St. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the chapel. Inurnment will be at the Shueyville Cemetery.
Kay was born Aug. 24, 1934, in New Hampton, Iowa, to Gilbert “Mike” and Aileen (Mitchell) Mathias. She married Louis Fordice on Oct. 16, 1953, in Shueyville. Kay worked as a clerk for the Johnson County Assessor before retiring in 1996.
She enjoyed traveling, camping, bird watching, flower gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Kay loved watching sports, especially the Cubs, Vikings and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Kay is survived by her husband, Louis; children, Mike (Mary), Gary (Sharon), Dale (Kim) and Judy (Larry) Serovy, all of Solon, and John (Sandra) of Swisher; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Laura Mathias; three brothers, Wayne, Howard and Franklin; two stepsisters, Audrey Miller and Francis Carmack; and an infant grandson, Kyle Fordice.
