Iowa needs bill limiting campaign contributions
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Nov. 18, 2010 12:45 pm
Political campaigns across Iowa reported record campaign contributions again this year. Of course, we know that most of this money isn't coming from everyday people. Big special interest groups are funding candidates at record levels from every office from the Iowa House to the president. Why? They are expecting something in return.
Iowa is one of the only states in the country that does not have campaign contribution limits, which would restrict the amount of money an individual or special interest group could give to a campaign. We need a campaign contribution limits bill.
Members of Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement will tell our legislators and elected officials to show whose side they are on - that of the people or that of big money.
