Peterson, Elwyn 'Pete'
Elwyn “Pete” Peterson was born October 26, 1931 in rural West Union to Elmer Peterson and Anna (Chase) Peterson. He died May 2, 2011 at the VA Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness. Elwyn served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He worked several jobs in West Union, Oelwein, and Cedar Rapids.
Per Elwyn's request his body was donated to science and there will be no funeral or visitation. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Earl.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Linda (Bill) Dodson of Wynne, Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews.
