Iowa man gets six years for child pornography charges
An Alta Vista man has been sentenced to more than six years in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography.
Authorities say Darrin Joseph Meirick, 32, had at least 150 images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, including images of "prepubescent minors engaged in sadistic sexual conduct."
A U.S. District Court judge in Cedar Rapids sentenced Meirick this week to 78 months in prison and 10 years of supervised release. Meirick will also be required to register as a sex offender.
