Romberg, Delbert 'D.C.'
Delbert “D.C.” Romberg, 98, of Ocala, Fla, farmed northwest of Keota for 33 years. Delbert also owned and operated a pre-cast concrete business in Williamsburg. After moving to Ocala, he owned Romberg Realty.
Delbert was born southwest of Williamsburg to Charles and Sarah Romberg on Jan. 26, 1914, and went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012.
Del married his Kinross classmate, Helen Marie Seitsinger, who is now 97 1/2, on Aug. 15, 1934, at her home farm in Kinross, Iowa.
Delbert retired at the age of 80, loved his wife of 77 1/2 years and their Ocala home where they enjoyed yard work, music, their family and friends and each other. He was loved by all for his honest and gentle manner.
Delbert once said his most important promotion in life was from being a husband to a father of four children, Stanley Charles Romberg, Ocala, Fla., Linda (Gary) Pribyl, Fairfax, Clifford (Sandy) Romberg, Lino Lakes, Minn., and Janice (Leon) Kubiak, St. Peters, Mo. He was a wonderful grandfather to eight grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
Delbert was very proud of his siblings, four sisters and one brother, Milo, who died at 1 year and 3 months. He wished he had known his brother and also had another one. The sisters he teased and have gone to their “Heavenly Home” as he called it were, Rosalie (Will) Luers, Bessie (Paul) Beinke, Opal (Elvin) Luers and Phyllis (Jack) Snoddy/Jellings.
Honoring his wishes, a family celebration will be held at a later date. Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services in Ocala, Fla., is caring for Delbert and his family.
Memorials in his honor may be made to the Church of Christ in Kinross, Iowa; or Hospice of Marion County. They may be mailed to the Romberg family at 2600 SW 36th Dr., Ocala, FL 34474-3346.
