Raymond L. Foley, 94, formerly of Belle Plaine, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, May 30, 2016, at Bickford Cottage in Marion. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 6, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family. Raymond was born March 3, 1922, to Matthew and Emma (Angerer) Foley, in Hills, Iowa. Raymond graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1940. He married the love of his life, Rose Marie McGrory, at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Victor, on Oct. 3, 1946. Together they started farming near Grinnell and later moved back to Belle Plaine, where they continued to farm and raise their family.
Ray enjoyed many things, dancing, playing cards, gardening, tinkering and spending time with his family. His biggest joy in life was his wife, Rose.
He was active in his community through the Belle Plaine school board, Knights of Columbus, St. Michael's Church, Honey Creek Township trustee, Farmers Four County Co-op, Ruritan and the National Farmers Organization.
Raymond is survived by his daughters, Therese (Jerry) Houlihan of Cedar Rapids, Colleen (Roe) McCabe of Ballwin, Mo., and Mary Jo (Lonnie) Nielsen of Orchard Park, N.Y.; and his sons, Dennis (Deb) Foley, Kevin (Gerri) Foley, Pat (Jill) Foley, all of Des Moines, and Alan (Cheryl) Foley of Red Bluff, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and nine siblings.
