To the editor:
Numerous accolades and kudos have been heaped upon the University of Iowa, Kirk Ferentz and coaching staff for a historical 12-0 season and an appearance at the 2016 Rose Bowl. Rightfully so. Although the Hawks lost to a formidable foe, all Hawkeye fans can be proud that the team fought it out to the end managing to put on the board 16 hard-earned points.
However, during all of the excitement nothing has been mentioned about the Hawkeye Marching Band. The band was superb in its performance. They played a grand rendition of the Star Spangled Banner as a B2 bomber flew overhead. Their halftime performance was equally memorable. Special compliments go to Iowa's Golden Girl who executed flawlessly. In stark contrast was the Stanford 'marching band” which was a disorganized mess.
Congrats to the Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band. A job well done.
