Detroit Lions, ex-Hawkeye Jared DeVries agree to 1-year deal

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) - The Detroit Lions have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with defensive end Jared DeVries.

The team confirmed the agreement Monday.

Devries missed last season after surgery on a ruptured Achilles tendon. He was released in February.

Devries started 29 games the previous three seasons for the Lions and has played in 120 games for them since they drafted him out of Iowa in 1999.
