Donald L. "Buzzy" Buswell, 70, of Iowa City, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, in the hospice unit at Mercy Iowa City. A funeral will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice.
Don was born Nov. 27, 1946, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the son of Richard and Cleo (Robinson) Buswell. He attended Parnell and Williamsburg high schools. Don was united in marriage to Patricia G. Struble on Jan. 16, 1965, at Keswick United Methodist Church.
He started his professional career as a carpenter, then became a master drywaller. In June 1966, Don moved the family to Iowa City, where he resided for 51 years.
His interests were gardening, golfing, fishing, hunting and watching Hawkeye sports. Most of all, he enjoyed attending his grandkids' activities.
Donald is survived by his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Sherry Sladek of Iowa City and Michele (Kenny) Kuepker of Iowa City; four grandchildren, Morgan and Grant Sladek and Paige and Zachary Kuepker; two siblings, Larry (Diane) Buswell of South Amana and Robyn (Kevin) Weiland of North Liberty; and extended family.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Paula; and son-in-law, Steve Sladek.
