Coffman, Jean E.
Memorial services for Jean E. Coffman, 92, of North English, who passed away Jan. 12, 2013, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Amana, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Powell Funeral Home in North English, with visitation one hour before the service. The Rev. Edwin Jordan will officiate at the service, with a private family interment in North English Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established for the North English United Methodist Church and Dollars For Scholars.

Jean was born in North English, Iowa, on June 9, 1920, to R.G. (Dick) and Rose C. (Grauer) Owen. On June 29, 1940, she married William J. “Bill” Coffman in Yuma, Ariz. Together they operated Bill Coffman Insurance from 1947 to 1973. In 1977, she sold the business and began a career with IDS Investments and Life USA.
Jean was a life long resident of North English until 2005 when she sold her home and moved to Highland Ridge Retirement Community in Williamsburg. In 2011, she became a resident of Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Amana.
Survivors include her daughters, Helen (Milo) Murray of Cedar Rapids and Kathy (Dennis) Stevens of Hoopeston, Ill.; grandchildren, Kevin (Brook) Smock of Atkins and Kathy (Andy) Christensen of Cedar Rapids; great-grandchildren, Drew and Mitchell Christensen and Lindsey Smock; stepgreat-grandchildren, Matt Mohr and Heather (Mohr) Short; her sister, Doris Seydel of Readlyn; and several nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
The family would like to thank Colonial Manor Nursing Home for the excellent care they gave our mother.
