Coffman, Lillian M.
Lillian M. Coffman, 94, of Keota, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at Halcyon House in Washington.
Lillian was born Jan. 12, 1918, in East Lancaster Township, Keokuk County, Iowa, to Matts and Mary (Conrad) Osweiler. She attended St. Mary Catholic School in Keota and St. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Clear Creek Township. On Oct. 3, 1936, Lillian married James B. Coffman Sr. in Oskaloosa. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1979. Following his death, Lillian moved to Keota, where she worked as a CNA at Maplewood Manor for 15 years.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Lillian enjoyed playing cards, fishing, quilting, crocheting afghans and playing Bingo.
Survivors include two children, James B. Coffman Jr. and wife Claudette and Jaynane Lillig, both of Iowa City; one grandson, Derek Coffman and wife Wendy, and two great-grandsons, Trevor and Malcolm Coffman, all of Snohomish, Wash.; granddaughter-in-law, Teresa (Lillig) Lineer of Shorewood, Minn.; two sisters, Lorraine (Stan) Kolosik of North English and Marlene Pennington of Lake Alfred, Fla.; sister-in-law, Nadine Osweiler of Keota; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Frank Osweiler; grandson, Christopher Lillig; son-in-law, Michael Lillig; three brothers, Richard, Louis and Cyril Osweiler; and two sisters, Geraldine Rezac and Irene Clubb.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries-St. Mary Cemetery in Keota. Visitation will be from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a wake service at 2 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established for Holy Trinity Parish and Holy Trinity Cemeteries.
