Elderly, handicapped deserve better

Has anyone been to the department of motor vehicles lately? Couldn't Cedar Rapids have done a better job of relocating this office from the Kmart East plaza?
The parking lot is a nightmare before you ever step foot inside where the experience gets even worse.
I took my mom there for an Iowa identification card. She quit driving a year ago and her license was expired. I called ahead to ask when a good time would be to bring an elderly person out when the wait wouldn't be all day. Wednesday afternoon was the day.
There was only one handicap parking spot (luckily it was available) and in we went. The office was full and we were told the wait would be 50 minutes. We waited the 50 minutes (and then some). After waiting so long when your number is called it seems you are overjoyed to go to the window and conduct your business. The female employee was nice and respectful to us. We finished our business and 1 1/2 hours later we left. Why can't this state office do something to better accommodate the elderly and handicap? With 10 windows possibly available, why can't more than three be open? Can't one of the 10 be used to help handicap and elderly folks?
