KARL STREMPKE Cedar Rapids Karl Strempke, 59, of Melbourne, Fla., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at Hospice of St. Francis, Titusville, Fla. A Celebration of Life is planned for June in Cedar Rapids. Karl was generous enough to donate his body to Science Care for medical research in an effort to find a cure for cancer. Survivors include his wife, Jini Strempke; sons, Ryan (Heather), Korey (Amanda) and Tony Kunz of Cedar Rapids and Nicholas (Alycia) Babcock of Melbourne, Fla.; daughter, Vanessa Kunz of Melbourne, Fla.; sisters, Karlita (Dave) Jacobsen of Independence, Linda (Ron) Schrage of Anna, Ohio, and Tracy (Darrell) Wencke of Mays, Ind.; his mother, Norma Strempke of Independence; and granddaughters, Olivia and Sophie Strempke of Cedar Rapids and Riley Keller of Melbourne, Fla. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Strempke in 2013; and twin brothers, Ronald and Donald in infancy. Karl was born the son of Clifford and Norma (Ohl) Strempke on June 23, 1955. He was raised in the Independence area and after graduation began his lifelong career at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids and retired from the Melbourne facility in February 2012. He married Jini Kendall June 30, 1990, in Cedar Rapids. He loved his Green Bay Packers and his schnauzers. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
