Null, Roy
Roy Null, 90, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be 11 Saturday morning, Jan. 4, at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Monticello, with interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. The Rev. Reed Stockman will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 3 until 7 p.m. Friday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.

Surviving are two children, Janice Omann, Iowa City, and Marilyn (Doug) Picray, Monticello; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Ray (Ginny) Null, Ventura, Calif.; and a sister, Mae Young of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carlene; a great-granddaughter, Hannah First; a great-grandson, Wolfgang Gonzales; 2 sons-in-law, Lynn First and Larry Omann; and two brothers, Earl and Vernon.
Roy W. Null was born June 20, 1923, on the family farm in Lovell Township near Monticello. He was the son of John and Hannah Husmann Null. He received his education in the Lovell Township School No. 6. Roy Null and Carlene Stahlberg were married Jan. 31, 1945, in Monticello. The couple farmed on the Null family farm. Roy retired from active farming in 1987. Carlene preceded Roy in death on July 17, 1989.
Roy was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church.
