Connie Brace, 67, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, at home following a
brief illness.
Connie was born in Manchester, Iowa, to her parents, Karl and Lorraine (Gaffney) Keegan. She graduated from East Buchanan High in Winthrop. After high school, she attended Mount Mercy University, where she received a bachelor's degree as a medical technologist. Later she went on to receive her master's degree from the University of St. Francis in health care administration. She began her career at Mercy Medical Center, then quickly transitioned to Weland Clinical Laboratory, where she retired as lab manager in 2015. In 1971, she married Richard Brace in Masonville. They had two children together.
She was a longtime member of the Mount Mercy Alumni Association. She enjoyed swimming, gardening, playing cards, entertaining friends and family and anything Irish. One of her favorite things was spoiling her grandson, Milo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Nicole; her brother, Kenneth Keegan; and her brother-in-law, Dan Brace.
She is survived by her husband; her daughter, Tiffany (Jacob) Lanich; grandson, Milo Lanich; brother- in-law, James (Joan) Brace; sisters-in-law, Judy (Don) Wulfekuhle, Janet (Jon) Isham and Vicki Keegan; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, with a vigil service at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, with burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following.
