Megan, Connie L. Tompkins
Connie L. Tompkins Megan, 63, of Iowa City, died Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at Lantern Park Care Facility, Coralville, following a long illness.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Connie was born Oct. 1, 1946, in Iowa City, the daughter of Ray and April Poggenpohl Tompkins.
Connie served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, after living in Germany during her earlier adult life. She was a nursing assistant at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City, for 10 years, and later was employed at the Iowa City Community Health Center and Goodwill Industries.
Connie was always in daily contact with her family and will be missed. Her family rejoices in a new beginning for her with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Survivors include her two children, Christina (Graham) Wilson and grandsons, Thomas and Jeremy of North Liberty, and Aaron Megan of Sarasota, Fla., and granddaughter Brittany of Iowa City; her mother, April Tompkins of Iowa City; four siblings, Kathy (Joe) Hoard of Sutton, Alaska, Diana (Douglas) White of Iowa City, Pam Tompkins (Jim) Kutcher of Oxford, and Roy Tompkins of Iowa City; her former spouse, David Megan of North Liberty; and an abundance of nephews and nieces.
