Graham, Oscar E.
Oscar E. Graham, 95, of Iowa City, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Oscar's memory to Iowa City Hospice.

Oscar was born Jan. 7, 1918, in rural Union Township of Johnson County, Iowa, the son of William and Mary (Porkorny) Graham. He attended Bales Country School in rural Johnson County through the eighth grade. When old enough, he enlisted in the United States Army during World War II serving in the Military Police. Oscar married Mildred O. Banks on Nov. 6, 1943, in Williamsport, Pa. Following the war the couple returned to Iowa City, where he worked in the Public Safety Division of the University of Iowa for many years, retiring as captain in February 1983. He was a member of the American Legion and the Iowa Peace Officers Association, with the honor of being its oldest living member.
His family includes three grandchildren, Patricia Payne, Donald Graham and Rachel Graham, all of the Iowa City area, and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred; son, Gary; two sisters and four brothers.
