To the editor:
I agree with Anna Homan's April 1 letter, 'More than a handful voted for the casino.”
There were more than a handful of votes for a casino in Cedar Rapids. The one that we voted for and won fair and square. That is what voting is for, I thought. But look what we had to go through to get it. Five biased people who didn't give us what we wanted. Only one agreed to give the people what they wanted.
We had someone who was going to pay and build the casino of our dreams. If you don't want to gamble, then don't. Let us have our fun. We are not children. Cannibalism is ridiculous. Grocery stores, gas stations, movies, etc., wherever we go there's going to be competition, not cannibalism. Do we care? We go where we want. Let us have the casino of our dreams. We deserve it.
