The Cedar Rapids Kernels and The Building Pros of Eastern Iowa are teaming up to help restock food pantries across Iowa.
Veterans Memorial Stadium and the Kernels are hosting "Restock Week" from Aug. 21-25. Fans attending Kernels games during that span are encouraged to donate perishable food items or money to purchase these items. Among the most needed foods are beef stew, tuna, macaroni and cheese, soup, canned fruit, peanut butter, and other boxed meals.
Every cent raised during Restock Week will go toward food purchases to help the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) restock its 54 emergency food pantries in seven counties.
No donation is too small - every $1 donation buys 1.6 pounds of food for people in need.
In addition to donating food or money, fans can also help HACAP by purchasing game tickets through the Restock Week ticket order form. For every $9 club seat ticket that is purchased through the order form, HACAP will receive $3 to help its cause.
Order forms for these tickets can be found at www.Kernels.com or at www.BuiltbyPros.com
