Joan E. Washburn, 90, longtime resident of 1319 Tracy Ln. in Iowa City, died Thursday, April 12, 2018, at home.
Per her wishes, there will be no services. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service is handling arrangements.
Joan was born Oct. 11, 1927, in Hills, Iowa, the first child of Cletus and Ruby (Michel) Hogan. She attended St. Patrick's High School, graduating in 1945.
She was the widow of Leo Washburn and the mother of Stephen Washburn.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; and a brother, J. Michael Hogan, and his wife, Sheila.
Joan loved life, with the possible exception of enduring the deaths of relatives and friends. She thanks those still alive for giving her life meaning and enjoyment. She loved animals and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds outside her home.
She leaves behind her son, Stephen; brother, Patrick Hogan; nephew, Michael Hogan; niece, Jennifer Griffin; and her family and her beloved pets, Baby and Shadow.
