Following graduation from high school in Youngstown, he went on to graduate from Youngstown State University. During World War II, Joe served in the U.S. Army. In 1955, he joined Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio, and in 1956, he was part of the team that started the Iowa City plant. He worked for Procter & Gamble over 31 years before retiring in 1984.
Joe was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and Iowa City Noon Kiwanis and previously had been a member of Iowa City Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Junior Achievement, Elderly Services and Goodwill. He loved retirement, his family and his good friends!
