There's a chilling twist in the Alaska plane crash that killed former Alaska Senator Ted Stevens.
Terry Smith died while piloting that plane, and CNN reports he was the father-in-law of Major Aaron Malone.
Malone, a graduate of North Linn High School in Coggon, died in a different Alaska plane crash outside of Anchorage two weeks ago. He was assigned to the Alaska Air National Guard's 249th Airlift Squadron.
Two members of an aviation family, dead in a matter of weeks.
The National Transportation and Safety Board says Smith did not make a distress call from the plane.
