UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE!
Jon Miller of Hawkeyenation.com, KNXO-AM and now the Big Ten Network has sent me a link to Bucknuts.com which compiled 14 sets of preseason rankings.
So go to THIS LINK and disregard almost everything after it.
Of four sets of preseason rankings various publications have released, Iowa adds up to No. 13.
I'm surprised. I would have thought 10th or 11th given the Hawkeyes finished last season at No. 7 and have several players of renown returning. But, like I keep tellin' ya, preseason rankings are meaningless.
Nonetheless, they're fun. So here are how the totals from the four rankings (Athlon magazine, Lindy's magazine, Phil Steele's magazine and The Sporting News) add up, with their placement in the four aformentioned magazines in parentheses).
1. Alabama (1-1-3-1)
2. Ohio State (2-3-2-2)
3. Boise State (4-2-6-3)
4. Florida (6-5-7-5)
5. Oklahoma (5-9-1-10)
6. TCU (11-7-4-6)
7. Nebraska (7-11-5-7)
8. Texas (8-4-11-9)
9. USC (3-12-8-16)
10. Virginia Tech (10-8-13-12)
11. Oregon (9-15-10-11)
12. Miami (14-20-9-4)
13. Iowa (12-10-13-14)
14. Wisconsin (16-6-23-8)
22. Penn State (23-24-18-x)
33. Arizona (x-x-25-x)
In another ranking, the Austin (Texas) American-Statesman has Iowa 8th:
