Gaskill, Harry 'Bill'
Harry “Bill” Gaskill, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center after a brief illness. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, by the Rev. Phil Thompson. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday at Teahen Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. and again Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Military honors presented by VFW Post 788.
Bill is survived by a daughter, Linda (Mike) Gilmer; two grandchildren, Jenna and Chad; one brother, Larry “L.R.” (Sally) Gaskill; two sisters, Joanne Webb and Patt Armbrecht; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Unzeitig and Carole (Vince) Ryan, all of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
His wife, Marilynn, and his parents preceded Bill in death.
Harry was born Nov. 20, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Harry and Monica Erlacher Gaskill. He served in the Marines. Bill married Marilynn Unzeitig on July 4, 1951, in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Bill worked for 37 years at Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric as a draftsman.
Bill loved spending time with his family and friends. He looked forward to going to Sunday breakfast and enjoyed good conversation.
Bill was the best dad and grandpa and will be greatly missed.
