Dennis, Gary Allen 'String Bean'
Gary Allen “String Bean” Dennis, 66, of Cape Coral, Fla., went to be with the Lord Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013.
He was born Sept. 17, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and moved to Detroit, Mich., where he lived for over 30 years before moving to Cape Coral in 2007. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam where he served one tour. Mr. Dennis retired Sept. 30, 2013 from Ferrous Processing and Trading Co., after 40 years of service. He was a Civil War historian, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Cape Coral.
He was loved by many and survived by his daughter, Jennifer N. Dennis and husband John Harris and granddaughter, Marina Dennis of Locust Grove, Ga.; the love of his life, Latisha “Tish” Terry of Cape Coral; and his sister, Patricia Packingham and her husband, Kenneth of Central City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Bonnie Dennis; and his brother, Terry Dennis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in Palo, Iowa, with a memorial service following.
