Elder, Irene L.
Irene L. Elder, 98, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center died there Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011. Services: 3 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Joseph Polzin from Bethany Lutheran Church will officiate.
Survivors include her sister, Evelyn Schoff of Cedar Rapids, and many nieces and nephews.
Her husband, parents and siblings preceded her in death.
Irene was born June 28, 1912, the daughter of Daniel and Emma Martzahn Stock. She married George Milton Elder on June 26, 1938, in Lowden, Iowa. Irene worked for the Mays Drug Store for many years and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. She also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Lutheran Social Services of Southern California for her many years of volunteer service. Irene always showed care and concern for her family.
