Cherveny, Robert Ralph
Robert Ralph Cherveny, 91, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton, with military rites conducted by the Iowa Military Funeral Honors and Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post 57 of Vinton.
Robert was born Nov. 21, 1918, at Belle Plaine, to Albert and Anna (Craycheck) Cherveny. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1936. On April 26, 1941, he married Violet Stuckenbruck at Lancaster, Mo. She preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 1997. Before his retirement, Robert farmed in the Garrison area and was a member of the Garrison Lions Club.
He is survived by his son, Larry (Cindy) Cherveny of Cincinnati, Ohio; his daughters, Linda (Steve) Freeman of Hudson, Mich., and Carol Hennings of Blakesburg, Iowa; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Mildred (Lawrence) Knuth of Vinton; and his brother, Donald Cherveny of Texas.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Albert.
