Hudson, Melinda Margaret
Melinda Margaret Hudson, 65, of Lisbon, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Life service will be 7:30 p.m. Monday at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon. There will be a memorial open house for Melinda from 5 until 7:30 p.m. at the chapel. Private family graveside service will be in Andre Cemetery, rural Lisbon.
Surviving Melinda are her husband, David; four sons: David Brian (Jan) and their children, Dustin, Blake, Thad, Clay and Tawnie Hudson; Brandon Hudson and his two daughters, Allie and Kate; Gary (Carol) and Todd Hendrix Beckman. She is also survived by sister, Virginia Martin; two nieces, Nancy and her family and Sarah Marlin and her family; nephew, J.W. (Amy) Martin; four brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law; and many special friends.
Melinda was preceded in death by her parents and half sister, Jean.
Melinda was born June 16, 1946, in Keokuk, the second child of Chester A. Hendrix and Lucille Sinclair Hendrix Winey. She graduated from St. Peters High School, Keokuk, in 1963, and received her master's degree from the University of Iowa. She married David Hudson on Nov. 8, 1995, in Cedar Rapids. She retired from Shepley's Pharmacy, Mount Vernon, in 2011.
Melinda loved watching her grandchildren and family play sports and also watching them growing in life. Her passion was her husband David. Melinda was always thinking about others.
Melinda loved learning, was an avid reader and member of the Lisbon Library.
In lieu of flowers or green plants, memorials may be given in Melinda's honor to the Lisbon Public Library.
