Naggatz, Barbara J.
Barbara J. Naggatz, 80, of Solon, formerly of Iowa City, died Monday, April 19, 2010, surrounded by her family at the Solon Nursing and Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Iowa City with burial at Oakland Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Barbara Jean Wolf was born April 19, 1930, the daughter of Harry Wolf and Margaret Beery. During her childhood she lived in Hastings, Neb., until her senior year of high school when she moved to Iowa City, which would become home for almost 40 years. On July 3, 1949, Barb married Vernon Naggatz in Iowa City. Together the two raised their children and enjoyed each other's company spending time outdoors camping, fishing and supervising numerous Scouting adventures. Barb was a competitive bridge player and avid golfer, as well as a talented artist. She was a member of the Iowa Watercolor Society as well as a charter member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
Barb's family includes her husband, Vernon; sons, Robin Naggatz of Cedar Rapids and Donald Naggatz of Lisbon; daughters Terri (Keith) Drury of Clarkston, Wash., and Dawn (Kelly) McGinnis of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Zachary, Travis and Austen Naggatz, Larry Naggatz, Kaelyn Drury, and Tristan and Clay McGinnis; brother, Donald (Wanga) Wolf, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by their son, Ronald Dean; her parents; and sister, Carol Cox.
