PAUL GRECIAN
Lone Tree
Paul Nelson Grecian, 91, of Marshalltown, formerly of Lone Tree, passed away Jan. 22, 2014, at Iowa River Hospice of Marshalltown.
He was born June 25, 1922, to Riley and Dora
Grecian. He grew up in Highland Township,
Washington County, helping on the family farm and sawmill. Paul enlisted in the United States Navy
during World War II, from 1944 to 1946. He returned home to marry the love of his life, Lorraine Ethyl
Baker, on Dec. 29, 1947. They lived their lives
together working on their farm and going dancing, which was their favorite pastime.
Paul enjoyed his family and neighbors. He was a kind man who enjoyed his farm life, animals, cars and motorcycles. He loved music and traveling with Lorraine. Paul was descended from a patriot who fought in the Revolutionary War.
He is survived by his son, Daryl (Judy) Grecian of Solon; his daughter, Colene Grecian of Marshalltown; three grandchildren, Andrew Grecian of Solon,
Angela Grecian Daoud
of Clear Lake and Erika Hilleman of
Iowa City; three great-grandchildren, Kristina, Khalil and Joey Daoud; and sister, Helene
Lucille (Dal) Queck of
Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Delbert; and his wife, Lorraine.
There will be a memorial service later in the year for both Paul and Lorraine in the Lone Tree/Riverside area.
