Need something to do this weekend? There's plenty on tap around Eastern Iowa.
How about the downtown Cedar Rapids farmers' market, opening Saturday for the first time this year? Nearly 200 vendors are expected, making the market one of the largest in Iowa and the Midwest.
Or if you prefer water activities, jump in to one of the pools opening this weekend, including the Ellis Pool, fully renovated and opening for the first time since the June 2008 flood.
Or for family-friendly fun, try the Tanager Place Summer Fest, from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, including a balloon glow at dusk. There's dozens of family activities, many free. New this year: A nine-hole miniature golf course, joining the inflatable rides, mascot dance and other activities. All proceeds benefit Tanager Place.
