Hargrove, Jessie
Jessie Hargrove, 67, of 804 Second Ave. SW, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Gospel Tabernacle Church, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Mary Beets and Pastor Tim Pridegon. Burial: Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Survivors include her children, Dwight Hargrove and wife Lisa of Iowa City, Donna Webb and husband Roy of Cedar Rapids and Anthony Hargrove and wife Jodie of North Liberty; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Fred (Melissa) Woods of Eutaw, Ala., and Delawerance (Janice) Woods of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; three half sisters; one half brother; and life long friend, Rosie Diggs.
Born Aug. 29, 1943, in Panola, Ala., Jessie was the daughter of Melvin and Maehalie (Jones) Little. On Oct. 27, 1961, she was united in marriage to Willie B. Hargrove. He died Dec. 3, 2002. Before living in Cedar Rapids, Jessie resided in Saginaw, Mich. She was a homemaker, a Mary Kay representative and a day care provider.
Jessie was a member of the Purple Diamond Club and the Gospel Tabernacle Church.
