C.R. will be better off with Karr on board
Nov. 29, 2009 12:28 am
Don Karr and I grew up together and served in Vietnam at the same time and in some of the same places. There are many reasons why the people of Cedar Rapids will be well served by him.
Don knows in detail how and why Cedar Rapids has become the second largest city in Iowa. A good deal of the Linn County Museum's collection comes from Don's personal collection.
Don has been a business man here for more than 30 years. When his small business and many others were destroyed or badly affected by the flood, it was Don who organized the Small Business Recovery Group. Don is a capable, intelligent, and hands-on leader. Cedar Rapids has never needed him more.
I was happy that the Nov. 3 election brought new blood into the city government. I was particularly hopefully when at least three of the new council members endorsed Karr in Tuesday's runoff election.
