In continued celebration of its 100th anniversary, Hawkeye Downs has teamed up with Benton County Speedway to bring dirt back to its quarter-mile track for “Dirt at the Downs,” a six-week series of racing events set to begin Saturday.

The champions are Kurt Bohnsack (Hornets), Kevin Korsmo (Legends), Todd Ness (Sportsmans), Tallan Chandler (Sports Mods), Adam Petrzelka (Hobby Stocks), Michael Weber (Late Models) and Garrett Warren (HD Dawgs).

15-year-old, Tallan Chandler, has won seven consecutive Sports Mod feature races at Hawkeye Downs Speedway — the last three against fields that included a former NASCAR driver.
