Discussion with Corbett to focus on Sinclair smokestack
Cedar Rapids Historic Preservation Commission members will meet with Mayor Ron Corbett at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to discuss preservation plans for the Sinclair smokestack.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will be at the City Hall's temporary location at an AEGON building at 3851 River Ridge Dr. NE.
In April, the commission voted unanimously to pursue saving the century-old structure at the flood- and fire-damaged former meatpacking plant, 1600 Third St. SE.
D.W. Zinser began demolishing the plant last week.
