Alice McConnell, 85, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at the Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1900 F Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405, by Pastor Dan Wiersema. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 27, at the church. Burial: Linwood Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Ricky (Becky) McConnell of Texas; granddaughter, Shannon (Clayton) Skoog of Hawaii; great-granddaughter, Brighton Skoog of Hawaii; sister, Merle Loney of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; daughter, Susan; brothers, George, Dan, Melvin and Glenn Floyd; and sisters, Elma Wilson, Thelma Davis and Florence Pleyte.
Alice was born April 21, 1930, in rural Linn County, Iowa, daughter of Leo and Sadie (Andrews) Floyd. She married Kenneth McConnell on March 7, 1959, in Cedar Rapids. She was a manager at Woolsworth, waitress at Killian's and a sales clerk at Jack's and Younkers. She enjoyed sewing her own clothing and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for decades.
