Burlington woman hit husband with barbell, police say

Authorities say a Burlington woman was arrested after she allegedly threw a 10-pound barbell at her husband and smacked him in the head.

Tanya Jablonski-Smith was arrested early Sunday and charged with aggravated domestic abuse assault.

According to police reports, she wanted to go to Gulfport, Ill., but her husband didn't and that led to an argument. Jablonski-Smith allegedly threw the barbell, which caused a cut and lump on her husband's head.

Jablonski-Smith was taken to the Des Moines County jail.

Jail officials said Monday that she was released on bond on Sunday after she was appointed a public defender. They had no other information, and there was no information on the state's online court records.
