It was disappointing to see Gov. Kim Reynolds warmly embrace Trump press secretary Sarah Sanders at a campaign appearance earlier this month.
Sanders routinely covers for President Donald Trump's lies by dissembling and lying herself. For example, PolitiFact has documented some of the worst lies told by Sanders to the American people including: ”The president in no way, form or fashion has ever promoted or encouraged violence,” and 'There are multiple news outlets that have reported” that former President Barack Obama ordered wiretapping on Trump. Both statements are demonstrably false.
In Iowa we expect more from our political leaders. Unfortunately, as documented in the Sioux City Journal on Oct. 13, Reynolds said of Sanders, 'She's tough. She doesn't back down and she gets it. We love you. Keep doing what you're doing.” Apparently lying is not only OK with Reynolds, it's commendable.
If character counts, Reynolds' warm embrace of Sanders tells you all you need to know. We can do better. Vote for Fred Hubble on Nov. 6.
