Victoria A. Thomson Lehman Freie, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away May 4, 2016, at Northbrook Manor. Mass of the Resurrection will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, officiated by the Rev. David Beckman. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom. The family also will receive friends one hour before Mass at the church. Private family inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Jim (Kay) Lehman, M.D., of Cedar Falls, Bob (Judy) Lehman, Cindy Lehman of Temperance, Mich., Christine (Scott) Lehman-Engledow and Connie Lehman (Tom Podzimek); a stepson, Michael Freie (Joette Costa) of Auburn, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Victoria "Vicky" was born March 17, 1930, to Chauncey and Gladys Lamb Thomson in Des Moines, Iowa. She married Robert Lehman in 1950. He passed away in 1980. Vicky then married Henry Freie III in 1986. He passed away in 2014.
Vicky attended Iowa State, where she met her husband, Robert "Bob." Upon Bob's graduation, they farmed several years near Adel. The couple moved several times and then settled in Cedar Rapids with their children. Vicky assisted Bob with his Farm Management Co. and Real Estate Brokerage business until the children were older. She then returned to Mount Mercy University, where she received her BSN degree. She worked as an obstetric nurse for many years before starting her own business, Home Nursing, providing care for people in Linn County.
In addition to being a Master Gardener, she volunteered at St. Luke's, Brucemore and ISU Extension.
Vicky was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert and Henry; daughter, Sara Robin Lehman; and grandson, Maxwell Sahli.
Vicky's family would like to thank Garnett Place and UnityPoint Hospice for its compassionate care.
