Someone from the Quad-City Times, I think, played video 20 questions with guard Julian Vandervelde. He'd want to be stranded on a desert island with guard Dace Richardson but only if things got to the cannibalistic point. If a Hawkeye hosted a gameshow, it'd be QB Ricky Stanzi. Hawkeye he'd allow to date his sister? That'd be defensive tackle Mike Daniels.

At about 2:30, I sneaked in some stuff about his desire to play center, focusing on guard this season, his timetable for return from offseason biceps surgery and the frustration that goes with injury.

Vandervelde could miss two games or more while rehabbing.

He's one of the most engaging, intelligent young people I've ever interviewed. A very quick mind.
