To the editor:
I am proud to support Lori Roetlin for a 4-year term on the Iowa City Community District School Board.
I first met Roetlin many years ago when our sons were in the same kindergarten class at Coralville Central Elementary. Over the years, I have been continually impressed with her commitment to the children and families who attend our schools. She is an active volunteer, regularly giving her time to the PTOs and events at Central and Northwest Junior High. In addition, her 20-year career as a social worker has given her a unique perspective and skill set that will be a great benefit to the future board.
Last spring, the school board proposed extreme boundary changes that would have had a profound impact on Coralville Central families. During this time, I witnessed her dedication and tenacity in advocating on behalf of vulnerable populations.
This is one example of what makes her so special. She is a compassionate fighter. Her main agenda is making sure children in every corner of the district have what they need to succeed. Please join me in voting for Roetlin on Sept. 8.
