Keep graphic details out of the newspaper
The Gazette Opinion Staff

On March 10, under “Sexual Abuse Charge,” you printed a very detailed report. So detailed that it probably was more than most jurors have to endure at these trials, let alone someone reading the paper before breakfast or supper.
Thank goodness you don't have access to pictures. Leave pornography to the Internet and stick to putting out a newsworthy, reader-enjoyed paper.

Editor's note: The Gazette has long-standing policies to avoid the use of graphic detail, particularly in sexual crimes. The log item referenced in the letter above overstepped the acceptable level of detail and should not have appeared as it did. We heard significant feedback from our audience following publication and we apologize for the offense it caused. We've reviewed our policies and procedures and hope to prevent graphic details from running again.
