Generose M. Bennett, 78, of rural Manchester, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014.
She was born May 16, 1935, near Winthrop, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Catherine (Flanagan) Monaghan. Generose was a graduate of Winthrop High School and also graduated from Mount Mercy College with a business degree. She worked at Iowa Manufacturing for several years. On Dec. 28, 1963, Generose was united in marriage to Donald Bennett. They lived in Chicago for three years before moving back to Iowa. They resided in Oneida and for over 50 years, ran the Oneida Name Plate business, which she started in her home while living in Chicago.
Generose and Donald recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She was an active member of the Audubon Society. Generose enjoyed art, traveling and her grand-children.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; two children, Matt (Wendy) Bennett of Cedar Grove, Wis., and Molly (Ron) Kohlmeyer of Rapid City, S.D.; and her three grandchildren, Cory, Brooke and Emily.
Generose was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Joseph Monaghan.

Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester. Private family funeral service and burial will be at a later date.
